Rosary presents 'Sound of Music,' benefit sing-a-long

The Fine Arts Department at Rosary High School will present its fall musical, "The Sound of Music" on Friday to Sunday, Nov. 6-8. This 50th anniversary production of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical features more than 60 student actors and a full orchestra.

The familiar story of the young postulant who is sent to be governess for seven children and in the process warms the heart of their cold father has been cherished by young and old alike. The show features the classic songs "Do-Re-Mi," "The Lonely Goatherd," "So Long, Farewell," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title song among others.

Tickets are $9 or $7 for seniors and children, ages 12 and younger. All performances will be held in the McEnroe Auditorium at Rosary High School, 901 N. Edgelawn Drive, Aurora.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee begins at 2 p.m. Stop in the school office during regular school hours, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday to purchase your tickets.

Added this year is "The Sound of Music Sing-a-long!" Come back at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 and for $5, you can sing your heart out along with the cast. The show will be presented "concert style," the actors will be on a bare stage playing the scenes, but when the songs begin, you get to join in the fun. Lyrics will be projected so you can sing along. This evening is a benefit performance for the RHS Fine Arts Boosters.
