Get your finances in order
CHOICES, a not-for profit program of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Elgin, will hold a free program Thursday, Nov. 5 on rebuilding your personal finances. It will discuss providing a safe place to construct a strong financial foundation and equipping people with a Financial Rebuilding Toolkit of concepts, principles and practical tips. It will be held at 7 p.m. at United Way of Elgin offices, 2022 Larkin Ave.
Medicare seminar planned
Elgin Township will host a free seminar called "Medicare Basics and More" from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 in the Heritage Ballroom at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. The seminar will cover changes in Medicare Part D and the possible effects of health care reform on Medicare. Registration is required. Call (847) 741-2045,
Used cell phones needed
The Central Kane County TRIAD is seeking donations of used cell phones for seniors. Donated phones should be in general working order and have chargers included. They will be made available for seniors to use to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Donations are being accepted in the lobbies of the St. Charles Police Department, 2 State Ave., and the Geneva Township Senior Center, 400 Wheeler Drive. For details, call (630) 232-3602.
