Health fix a chance to make a difference

We have the chance to help our economic condition and the American people with the passage of the president's health care plan.

The president's plan offers reasonable changes to our current system by closing the "pre-existing condition" gap to deny coverage and making it illegal to drop us if we get sick. It also allows for a nonprofit choice of insurance coverage to help ensure we have access to reasonably priced insurance coverage.

Every other developed nation offers health coverage to all its citizens and it costs far less than we spend to insure 80 percent of the American public.

It's time for the United States to catch up. We have the chance to pass real reform, the president's plan has the backing of the American Medical Association (the first time they've back health reform) and the American Nurses Association.
