Bedford Falls meets Carpentersville
I attended the Oktobercross Fest in Carpenter Park in Carpentersville. I have been to the ones they had in the past and this year was fantastic. I can honestly say there were a lot more in attendance this year than last year.
Savage Entertainment did a good job hosting the kids' games. I watched all ages of kids participate and they all had a great time. This fest reminded me of the old-fashioned, family-oriented community picnics that you see in some of the older movies.
Carpentersville should be proud. The parks committee did a wonderful job organizing this event. The battle of the bands was great fun to watch. Quite a bit of information was provided by the local business tents set up. It was so nice to see so many of them participating.
Food tents offered a lot of choices. Hot cider and potato pancakes from Kenny's Brats gave us that fall fest feel along with Home Depot's pumpkin decorating contest.
I was able to meet most of our village trustees, found out that Carpentersville has a new Rotary and watched some bike races. The bikers are quite a committed group of athletes. Someone told me around 500 signed up for the race.
All in all this was a great community event and I look forward to attending next year.
Thanks Carpentersville.
