Kane County wet, but free of flood problems

Kane County will be soggy through the weekend, but it won't be flooded.

Don Bryant, the county's executive director of emergency management said, as of Friday afternoon, all signs point to Kane County avoiding any of the significant flood problems some areas of the state began to experience when up to 3 inches of rain fell through Friday.

"It's basically all south of us," Bryant said of flood problems. "We probably will not see any significant flooding in Kane County."

Bryant said his office has not received any calls about major flood problems from any area agencies during the recent bout of rain. However, he wouldn't rule out the possibility of trouble in the typical problem spots in the county if any more significant rainfall comes through the area. The forecast calls for high winds Saturday, but no rain. Showers might return Sunday evening but are more likely Monday, according to AccuWeather.

The area saw even more significant rainfall last year when about 3,000 homes suffered flood damage during September rains that dropped up to 10 inches of water in just a few days. Flooding was so bad that Kane County and several surrounding counties were declared major disaster areas.
