Success story: Antioch Elementary District 34 has gone from failing on the 2008 report card to passing a year later, and had to meet elevated standards to do so.
How it got there: Teachers collaborate more than ever on what is or isn't working in their classrooms. The instructors now receive time at school to meet, discuss and examine their education practices.
What it plans for next year: Continuing to get teachers and administrators to buy into a system that emphasizes teamwork to enhance children's academic performance.
