Algonquin teen facing seven felonies for fighting with police
An Algonquin teen appeared before a McHenry County judge today facing seven felony charges in adult court on accusations he fought with and spit bloody saliva on McHenry County sheriff's deputies, rescue workers and hospital personnel after his arrest early Thursday morning for drunken driving.
Frank A. Lintzeris, 17, of the 0-100 block of Lake Drive Court, is charged with seven counts of aggravated battery and a single count of DUI in connection with the incident that began about 3:14 a.m. when a sheriff's deputy was called to investigate a possible accident near Harvard.
The responding deputy located Lintzeris' vehicle on the side of the road near Dunham and Busse roads, with him slumped over the steering wheel passed out, sheriff's Capt. Tony Cundiff said. After efforts to wake him failed, deputies had to break the car's rear passenger window in order to get to Lintzeris, he said.
"The driver became extremely belligerent and combative with the deputies and rescue personnel on the scene," Cundiff said.
The behavior continued on an ambulance ride to Mercy Harvard Hospital and in the facility's emergency room where, according to reports, Lintzeris - who at some point during the night sustained a bloody nose - spit blood on deputies, other personnel and hospital walls.
He later was transferred to the McHenry County jail, where he remained until a $5,000 cash bond was posted on his behalf later this morning. Lintzeris, who faces a maximum three to seven years in prison if convicted of the most serious aggravated battery charges, is scheduled to return to court Nov. 5.
