TV3: TCM salutes Grace Kelly, a little monkey business Friday night
Bravo gets 'Scarier'
Having already put together specials on the "100 Scariest Movie Moments" and "Even Scarier Movie Moments," Bravo marks Halloween with "13 Scarier Movie Moments" at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. "Hellraiser III" follows at 10, with "Hannibal" at midnight.
Nirvana's nirvana
Fuse presents a new documentary on Nirvana's now-legendary performance at the 1992 Reading Festival in England at 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2. The 25-song set relies heavily on tunes from the group's breakthrough, "Nevermind." Fans can warm up with "Loaded: Nirvana," a compilation of its music videos, at 9.
TCM's Kelly girl
Turner Classic Movies celebrates what would have been Grace Kelly's 80th birthday in November by naming her star of the month. Her films - mostly made in the early and mid-50s, before she retired to marry Prince Rainier III of Monaco - will be featured every Thursday, starting Nov. 5 with "Fourteen Hours" at 7 p.m. The evening's high point, however, follows at 9 with "High Noon," in which Kelly plays a spunky bride to Gary Cooper's embattled lawman.
Monkey business
Sorry, Halloweenies, but we're going to reject ghosts, ghouls and goblins this weekend for a true sci-fi giant in the Waste Watcher Hall of Fame: "Planet of the Apes." Charlton Heston's relentless overacting as a marooned astronaut carries this deceptively low-budget camp classic straight through to Rod Serling's trademark ironic ending. Look for Hollywood has-beens like Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter in the ape suits. It's at 7:14 p.m. today on Fox Movie Channel.
