Rotary Hill parking lot a street?
Residents who use Naperville's Rotary Hill and Riverwalk need to be aware of a development proposal for a small half-acre parcel directly adjacent to the park. While the desire to build what would be the two tallest buildings in the downtown area on such a tiny parcel is a real concern, it is the request to allow the development to use the Rotary Hill parking lot for its primary access to Aurora Avenue that is extremely troubling.
Simply put, turning a parking lot into a street is, literally, an accident that's going to happen. At the Oct. 7 plan commission meeting, the developer's attorney withdrew the proposal in order to continue their discussion with the park district, Riverwalk Commission and city council with the hope of getting an access agreement. I urge anyone who uses Rotary Hill or the Riverwalk to contact the above groups and let them know your thoughts. For more information, see the plan commission agenda information on the city of Naperville Web site.
