No public option limits your options

I am amazed at the concern that the public option will take away our ability to keep our existing health care. The ads claiming the public option provides no guarantee you will be able to keep your doctor, no guarantee against health care rationing and no guarantee you won't lose your health care insurance fail to point out that these conditions exist today in the absence of a public option.

Here is a notice from my company: "Nearly every benefit plan has a change. Don't assume that the plans you picked last year are the same or still the best choice for you. Review all plan details. Learn more by attending a benefits meeting."

I was not asked if I wanted to change my plan. I was not asked for my input on what changes would be acceptable to me and my family. Will these changes to my health care plan require me to change my doctor? Will they limit coverage I currently have? Will there be additional conditions that have to be met before I can qualify for treatment?

There may not be a public option today, but I have "no guarantees" or control over my current health care options.

We need to wake up and understand that fighting against the public option is fighting for corporate and insurance company control over our health care choices. Do you really feel better about your company and their insurance providers making your health care decisions?
