No injuries in early-morning Naperville home fire
No one was injured in an early morning fire in the 400 block of E. 8th Street in Naperville, officials said.
Naperville fire officials were called to the scene of the fire at about 2 a.m. to find smoke issuing from the windows of a one-story, single family home.
The resident was outside and advised firefighters that all occupants were out of the home and the fire appeared to be in the basement.
Firefighters entered the home through heavy smoke conditions, located and put out the fire in the workshop area of the basement, officials said. Fire also moved to the first floor of the home, where it was also knocked down by firefighters. The fire was under control and out by 2:16 a.m., officials said.
The workshop area of the basement was destroyed by the fire and extensive smoke and heat damage was present through the remainder of the structure, officials said. No firefighters or civilians were injured in this incident and the three adult residents will be displaced from their home until repairs can be made.
The Naperville Fire Investigation Team continue to investigate the cause of the blaze, officials said.
