Boy breaks leg in Hanover Park collision

Hanover Park police don't intend on pursuing charges against the driver who struck a 5-year-old boy on Saturday. Lt. Mike Menough said the boy apparently ran into the street between two parked cars in a residential neighborhood near Catalina and Arlington drives. The driver swerved in an attempt to miss the boy but couldn't avoid the collision. Neither speed nor alcohol were a factor, Menough said. The boy was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with a broken leg.
