Saluki QB done for season with broken collarbone
CARBONDALE -- The starting quarterback for conference-leading Southern Illinois is likely out for the rest of the season.
The Salukis announced Monday that junior Chris Dieker will be sidelined for six weeks with a broken left collarbone he suffered in Southern's 27-8 victory Saturday over Youngstown State.
The Salukis are 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference, entering Saturday's game at Indiana State.
Redshirt freshman Paul McIntosh will start for Southern. After stepping in for Dieker last weekend, McIntosh was 10-of-14 for 133 yards, including an 86-yeard touchdown pass. He also ran for 81 yards on 12 carries.
McIntosh is from Evansville, Ind. He transferred to Southern a year ago from Army.
