When did Americans become un-American?
Right-wing pundits and others in the opposition media along with Republican elected officials and partisan citizens seem to glory in making fun of President Barack Obama.
They cheered when Chicago lost its bid for the 2016 Olympics and were sharply critical when Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Publicized doubts about his citizenship, blatantly racist comments, pictures, and protest signs are commonly used fodder for the all media.
The opposition is very open about hopes for Obama's failure on legislation that will benefit the American people like health reform and environmental issues.
When did it become acceptable for Americans to act in un-American ways?
When did cheering against victories for America at home and abroad become a barometer of "True Americanism?"
Our nation is fighting two wars, battling an economy on life support, and faced with the collapse of our health care system.
Why is failure on one or more of these fronts seen as preferable to success for the Obama administration?
What happened to "Politics ends at the waters' edge?"
Is perceived victory in the next election worth destroying our nation? Or, do we actually have fewer true Americans than in the past?
