Ethanol reduces fuel economy
Anna Kukec's article on the Coskata wood-to-ethanol process stated totally incorrectly that "... consumers could get a less expensive fuel alternative ... (that) provides better gas mileage."
It's a scientific fact that ethanol contains a mere fraction of the energy-producing capability of gasoline and, as such, it takes more ethanol per mile than pure gasoline.
Consequently, it's a scientific reality that fuel mixtures that include ethanol reduce fuel consumption efficiency, so the consumer gets fewer miles per gallon.
