Injury ends Reuland's chances at state

The final area tennis player still alive in the state tournament, Rosary's Emily Reuland, lost in the fourth round Friday to Kristy Dodge of Barrington, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

"I was having a great match," Reuland said. "My body just gave up on me and that was really disappointing. I'm really happy with the way I played in this tournament, But, I'm frustrated I couldn't get to Saturday, and also because there's no back draw."

Reuland was beating Dodge in the second set when her legs cramped up. She finished and won the set. She tried to tough out in the third set and lost.

"Emily was playing the best tennis of her career," Rosary coach John Tsang said. "She could have gone far. If it wasn't for the cramps, I think should could have won that match. She was overpowering Kristy in the second set."

Brooke Henry has qualified for state four times.

"Brooke has done it all," West Aurora coach Brian Brooks said. "She's a team leader who went to state twice at singles and twice at doubles and she got to play doubles with her sister at the state tournament. I think they're both happy about that."
