U of I accepts chancellor's resignation
niversity of Illinois trustees have accepted the resignation of Urbana-Champaign campus Chancellor Richard Herman, the second high-level departure as the school cleans up from an admissions scandal.
Several trustees said Friday that they appreciated Herman's service, but their executive committee agreed to accept his resignation.
Herman announced Tuesday that he would resign. That followed university President B. Joseph White's decision last month to leave in December.
News reports have shown that Herman played a key role in the university's tracking applications from well-connected admissions candidates. Some were admitted over better-qualified applicants.
The 68-year-old Herman will become a professor and be paid $244,000 a year.
