2 in critical condition after Glen Ellyn shooting
Two people are in critical condition, shooting victims during a home invasion early Friday near Glen Ellyn.
Three men entered a home on the 800 block of Busch Road about 2 a.m. and shot the occupants, the DuPage County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. No description of the suspects was available.
Authorities went to the ranch-style house after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he was shot. One neighbor, who wouldn't be identified, said her daughter heard roughly eight gunshots at about 1:45 a.m.
When police arrived, they found that a 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were both shot. They were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. A third victim, a 24-year-old man, didn't need medical assistance.
No further details about the shooting have been released. Police said in the statement, "At this time we have no reason to believe that there is a threat to residents in the area."
Neighbor Sally Gunsteen said she didn't hear the gunshots but that she was surprised at the incident. She said she has lived in the neighborhood 35 years and all has been relatively peaceful.
