Police: Elgin woman used fake IDs to get job

Police say an Elgin woman used fraudulent ID cards to get a job with a Carpentersville business that specializes in pork processing.

Carpentersville police on Monday arrested Leticia Murillo, 26, of the 1100 block of Ash Drive, charging her with identity theft, a felony that typically nets four to 15 years in prison.

Murillo, police say, used a fake Social Security card and a fake resident card to get a job at Trim-Rite Foods, 801 Commerce Parkway.

Since 2007, Murillo gave her employer a phony name - the name of a woman who lives Pasco, Wash., according to police.

When the Pasco woman heard from the Internal Revenue Service about $22,000 in unreported earnings from 2007, the woman filed a police report that was forwarded to Carpentersville police, according to the department.

Within an hour of getting the report, Carpentersville police found Murillo at Trim-Rite, where she was arrested after admitting her real name, police say.

Murillo, police say, did not know the Pasco woman.

Murillo must post $2,000 to be released.
