Nixed in Campton Hills, Brundige Green subdivision OK'd

A plan to bring some new commercial, office and light industrial development to a 24-acre strip received a green light from the Kane County Development Committee Tuesday after being rejected by Campton Hills.

The development, called Brundige Green, would be constructed on the northwest corner of Brundige and Keslinger roads. The plan originally called for several potential retail outlets that some feared would cut into business at the nearby Mill Creek Center and also in La Fox in Blackberry Township.

"The developer originally came with a plan that had some uses that we did not feel was appropriate," said County Board member Drew Frasz, speaking to the concerns echoed by Campton Hills. "The developer came back with this plan, which is a light industrial/office. I think it's an appropriate use in keeping with some of the uses up and down Keslinger. At this time, I'm in support of this project."

The developer will also contribute $35,000 for a wayside horn installation at the nearby railroad crossing, addressing a safety issue. There are also plans to discuss the plan changes with Campton Hills officials to gain their blessing as well.

Development Committee members said the plan will help create jobs in a rough economy, and they were pleased to see the developer be flexible with the plans for the lots.
