Grayslake Pumpkin Fest Oct. 22
Grayslake Park District's 2nd Annual Pumpkin Fest will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22, after being delayed by rain last week. Recreation Supervisor Tracy Putkonen tells us what you need to know.
Q. What makes this such a fabulous event?
A. This is a great fall activity. Enjoy a fun family night together.
Q. How long has this event been in existence? How has it changed, and what is new this year?
A. We have been doing a Halloween event for over 11 years. We have adjusted this program to be a fun family event.
Q. What's the highlight of the event?
A. Trick or Treat path, scavenger hunt, fun games and craft activities, hay rides and a petting zoo. There also will be a performance by the Grayslake Central High School poms.
Q. What kinds of food and beverages will be for sale?
A. Hot chocolate and apple cider will be sold by the Grayslake Pom Moms, and free popcorn will be provided by the park district.
Q. Tell us about the volunteers and organizers who pull this together.
A. Volunteers this year are from the Grayslake Central Poms, NHS from Grayslake Central and PSP Group from Grayslake Central. Organizers for this program are the Grayslake Park District rec staff and maintenance department.

Cost: Admissions is free. Tickets are 6 tickets for $5, or $1 each. The Trick or Treat path is $4.
