Health care reform a moral obligation

I've had the privilege of meeting with small businessmen in my area, doctors, a nurse from Chicago's Stroger Hospital as well as some clergymen. They agree that not only is President Obama's health care reform a necessity to bring the United States to a place where everyone is in and no one is left out of quality, affordable health care coverage, but also an issue of morality and humanity.

They also agree that the Obama plan will make insurance work better by holding the insurance companies accountable. Right now our system works better for insurance companies than it does for our own people.

We're closer than ever to enacting comprehensive health care reform. An unprecedented coalition of doctors and nurses, as well as a huge percentage of the American people are behind President Obama's plan.

This is not a political issue. It's a moral issue to give all American's the opportunity to live and not die waiting for insurance companies to approve, or more likely disapprove their claims - or to refuse coverage or cancel coverage because someone is sick or raise premiums until they're unaffordable.

What are we waiting for America?
