EGHS hosts first debate tourney of year

The Elk Grove High School Student Congressional Debate team hosted 24 schools and more than 400 students from the Chicago area on Saturday, Oct. 17,

in the first Illinois Congressional Debate Association tournament of the season.

Elk Grove junior Chris Cirrincione captured a Best Presiding Officer award, along with a 2nd Place Speaker award.

Elk Grove's head coach Tom Smith, who credits his team with the success of the tournament, commented, "Our team worked very hard to put on a wonderful weekend for all those involved. We are looking forward to a competitive debate year!"

The next tournament will be at Dundee-Crown High School, Nov. 13-14.
