Harming animals is criminal behavior
The Oct. 15 article that reproved people who discard or neglect their pets was compelling.
Cats, dogs, horses and other companion animals that are abandoned usually have a traumatic and lethal fate. Many of them are killed and even tortured by malevolent animal abusers. Others slowly and painfully starve to death. Worse are the poor dogs that are captured by dogfighting criminals who use them as bait to be viciously killed by canines inhumanely trained to fight to the death.
Irresponsible people who discard pets should be prosecuted in the criminal justice system.
