There's too much talk, no action
Rosemary Colbert is right. President Roosevelt, a Democrat, gave us Social Security, placing those dollars in a trust fund. President Johnson then stole those hard-earned dollars and placed them in the general fund. That was wrong and against President Roosevelt's program.
As Glenn Beck pointed out, there is no difference between what Bernie Madoff did and what our government is doing. They took our money, promised it was safe in that Trust Fund, and then spent it for their own purposes. Bernie Madoff is off to jail, our politicians are off to their next cocktail party, while we worry about the possibility of no cost of living for the next two years.
She next continues with another absurd statement that "It was the Republicans that put us in the situation that we are in today. How brilliant, but again wrong. It is time that we all stop, be honest about the entire situation, and realize that it is, and was both parties that placed us in the mess we are in today. They lie, or perhaps it would be better to say that they speak some untruths. They want to run the Banking System when they can't even balance their own checking accounts and run up thousands of delinquencies with no charge to them. How gracious. They want to run the car industry when they could not really run a 2 cent penny candy store profitably.
We have all heard the same refrain, let's vote them out of there. That sounds good, but difficult to do. There are good people on both sides who together could be the spark that ignites the charge. Not only in Washington, but also in Springfield, where they spew their verbal garbage on limiting campaign funds. Again, a lot of talk but no meaningful action, ending up with no change at all.
