Tax drug companies to find new revenue
Now that our political representatives have fostered new takes on the people in Illinois, it appears they seem to want to use more gambling as a source of income without realizing the current source of income from casinos and the lottery are dwindling. That is a clear indication a good number of people are being tapped out due to rising costs on most everything you purchase.
Perhaps a new source of income might be available to the state if they started to tax the pharmaceutical companies that are taking up more of the space available to promote items and the virtues of each which also includes the side effects and talking to your doctor.
These manufacturers find it a very convenient way to get new users and while most doctors disapprove of their sales tactic it is interesting to note that other than their cable expense there are no state taxes. This direct-to-consumer advertising now being run on TV. The U.S. is only one of two industrial nations that currently permit advertising on prescription drugs. If the state needs revenue why not tax this source instead of thinking video poker machines are the answer to more revenue.
