Last week Prospect d. Elk Grove 33-26; Wheeling lost to Meadows 36-7
Outlook Prospect needs a win to have a shot at sharing the MSL East title with Buffalo Grove and/or Meadows. The Knights got a record-setting rushing performance last week from Peter Bonahoom (353 yards, 3 TDs) to give defenses something else to think about besides QB Miles Osei (2,088 total yards, 25 TDs) and a deep receiving crew. "What they always do is look for your weaknesses and decide what they want to do and do it," said Wheeling coach Dave Dunbar, "whether it's running or throwing the ball." Wheeling lost its fifth straight as sophomore QB Tyler Brady threw for 188 yards with a TD to Matt Splon last week. Prospect's defense gave up 394 yards but nearly had a second-half shutout until Elk Grove scored late. "I think they have the ability to do it physically," said Prospect coach Brent Pearlman, "and it boils down to how they do things mentally." The series is tied at 13-13-1.
