Take time to make right reforms

I hear all the rumbling about people who do not have health insurance, but does that mean they can't get health care?

I met a man from Africa who was here visiting his son. He was always nicely dressed and was very pleasant. He owns a farm in Africa that provides a comfortable living for his family. His English was not perfect, but I believe I understood him correctly; that he stated he had a green card and that was all he needed to get treatment for cancer at Cook County Hospital, where he went once a week.

If my understanding was correct, is there anyone who cannot get treatment in this country without insurance, as this foreigner did?

Maybe our lawmakers should take a look at the systems that are in place, and building around them, before committing the taxpayers to additional billions if not trillions of dollars burden.

I feel reform is needed, but this is a task that should require intelligent and responsible planning, rather than political expedience.
