Liberal voice waning in today's news media
The underlying message in Martin L. Davis' Sept. 26 letter was that the press is liberal and that news unfavorable to President Obama is not printed. Mr. Davis writes, "The real loser has been our free press and the truth. Today, if the news is not good for President Obama, it is not fit to print, period."
If Mr. Davis really believes that the media/press is controlled by liberals, then obviously he does not read newspapers, watch television or listen to the radio. Does this sound like liberals control the media: conservative syndicated columnists outnumber liberal columnists; Fox news which is openly biased has by far the largest viewing audience; almost 80 to 90 percent of radio talk show hosts are conservative and about 80 percent of all newspapers in the country support Republican candidates and policies.
So much for the ridiculous claim that liberals control the media. I guess what would make Mr. Davis happy would be if Fox News was the only television news outlet, 100 percent of all talk radio was conservative and only the views of conservative columnists were published. You know that sounds like how it used to be in the Soviet Union under Stalin.
The influence of liberals in the media is dwindling and I guess for people like Mr. Davis that is a good thing, but for me and other people that want to hear both sides of an issue it is a scary thing.
