Health fair coming to Batavia church

"Renewing Health and Soul" is the theme for the third annual Reformation Health Fair at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 950 Hart Road. It will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 in the church's Family Life Center.

The health fair is free and open to the public. It will include a flu clinic, blood donor opportunities, health testing, screenings for a variety of health issues, information and programs on wellness.

Flu immunizations and information will be available at the flu clinic staffed by health care professionals. There is a fee for immunizations, but all other services at the fair are free. The Heartland Blood Mobile will be on site to accept blood donations from regular donors and walk-ins. Donor registration times may be reserved by calling the church office at (630) 879-7163.

Free blood pressure and blood glucose tests will be available.

Screenings include vision, bone density, skin cancer, spine health, ADHD, dental/orthodontia, heart, and pain evaluation for adults and children, and hearing evaluations for children.

Representatives from Fox Valley agencies and health care institutions will offer information on topics including: adult day care, hospice, bereavement, childhood obesity, exercise and fitness, massage therapy, physical and occupational therapy, pet therapy and substance abuse.

Hospitals with information and exhibits will include Delnor, Central-DuPage, Edward and Provena Mercy.

The Batavia police and fire departments will have personnel and exhibits. Other participants will include Tri-Cities Family Services, Glen Ellyn Vision Center, Lazarus House, Lutheran Life Communities, Mutual Ground, Northeastern Area Agency on Aging, Suicide Prevention Services, Fox Valley Therapy Dog Club and Tri-City Family Services.

Church members who are health care professionals will provide information about OB/GYN concerns, GriefShare, care for senior citizens, and the congregation's Stephen Ministry.
