Babysitter gets prison for baby abduction

EDWARDSVILLE -- A teenager who abducted the 5-month-old boy she was baby-sitting is headed to prison for six years after pleading guilty in southwestern Illinois to aggravated kidnapping.

Seventeen-year-old Danielle Medina must serve at least 85 percent of the prison term imposed Wednesday by a judge in Madison County.

Medina made off with Cortez Rose of Madison in June. The baby was recovered three days later with Medina in a home in Fort Wayne, Ind., after federal marshals traced a call from a confidential informant to Medina.

More than a dozen other people were staying at the house.

The baby was later reunited with his mother.
