Groups can submit application to United Way for grant
United Way of Elgin is now accepting letters of intent from organizations interested in applying for a 2010-2012 grant. Letters of intent forms from nonprofit organizations are due by Friday, Oct. 16 and are available on the United Way Web site, www.uwelgin.org or can be obtained by contacting Diane O'Connor at doconnor@uwelgin.org.
United Way of Elgin provides grant funding to nonprofit health and human service organization programs based on their ability to impact goals and outcomes identified by the United Way of Elgin.
The letter of intent will determine a program's eligibility and relevance. Programs will be evaluated on their ability to comply with eligibility criteria and suitability and fit within the United Way of Elgin's goals. Programs will be notified as to whether or not they are eligible to continue the application process within approximately one week of submission.
Admission is competitive. United Way evaluates programs on their ability to provide the highest quality services which best meet the needs of the people of the Elgin area. No program, regardless of whether or not it has received funding in the past, is guaranteed funding.
Programs that meet criteria and are approved to continue the application process will be invited to attend a mandatory training question and answer session that will be held on Nov. 9.
