Search continues for missing Barrington man
Lake County sheriff's officials said the search continues for a Barrington-area man who disappeared nearly a week ago.
Robert D. Nelson, 47, was last seen Wednesday at 8 p.m. as he left his home on 28500 block of North Drive in unincorporated Lake County, and he hasn't been heard from since by family or friends, Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Dave Godlewski said.
Godlewski said deputies have checked land and water but haven't located Nelson, who was reportedly despondent when he left his home.
"We are conducting grid searches and are currently poring through phone records and financial data in hopes that we can find him," Godlewski said Tuesday. "We are tracking everything down, but so far, we have come up empty."
Godlewski confirmed there have been family issues at Nelson's home.
"The gentleman left his car, phone and personal property at home, so that sends up a major red flag for us," he said. "We are exhausting every possible lead in the search to find him."
Police have searched the Fox River and nearby forest preserves and have used dogs and helicopters.
Nelson was described as 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 165 lbs, and bald with hazel eyes and fair skin.
Anyone with information on Nelson's whereabouts is asked to call police at (847) 549-5200.
