Wind energy presentation in Buffalo Grove

The Wind Energy Task Force of Lake County will host "Sound and Acoustics of Wind Energy Systems," a public presentation regarding wind energy at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Buffalo Grove village hall, 50 Raupp Boulevard. Speaker is Dr. Tom Thunder, an acoustic specialist and audiologist, who has consulted in cases involving occupational and environmental noise and hearing loss. The task force cites growing interest in developing wind energy systems in Lake County and notes that while sound from wind turbines may have a significant impact, it is a complex issue that is difficult to regulate.
