Kohl's to close distribution center in Wis.

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. -- Mid-level retail chain Kohl's is closing a distribution center at its headquarters in Menomonee Falls to cut costs.

Company spokeswoman Vicki Shamion says 250 jobs will be affected by the closing, set for January 29.

Employees who are affected will be offered identical jobs at the remaining 10 distribution centers provided they remain in good standing until the center closes.

Shamion says the decision was made after assessing the effectiveness of the company's overall distribution network.

She says that the 84 stores that used the Menomonee Falls distribution center will use a similar facility in Ottawa. Kohl's remaining distribution centers are located in seven states.
