Maybe the kids can fix what ails Buffalo Grove

For decades, Buffalo Grove was an idyllic community - thriving, cutting edge and harmonious.

We still possess the vibrant, first-class police and fire departments, park district and educational facilities among other fine amenities. We thought out of the box, inventively and ingeniously to ride the coattails of a booming economy and stay one step ahead of lurking dangers.

Now for the most part, we sit stagnant. Presently, we are a shadow of our well-earned reputation. Sometimes a "good ol' boys" mentality prevails. We bicker politically, dragging through the muck of insecurities.

Just as our nation's infrastructure decays and presents new dangers and expenses, our future here in Buffalo Grove is open for debate.

The Roman Empire reached its glory and sat on its fat ideals, wasting away, until the empire collapsed! We better show some solid initiative, strike an accord and get on with the goal of making us leaders once again.

We all have witnessed what amazing good happens, when we all come together at various festivals and charitable events. Change happens, we better accept it because it's inevitable.

Have I told you something you don't already know? Probably not, except some of us are acting like children.

Yet children are our future and our children today are a lot smarter than you or I was at their age. So what I'm saying is to brainstorm the intelligence of the children in our community, to formulate an ally to our village's future.

I bet there is a cadre of outstanding high school and college-age citizens here in Buffalo Grove who can creatively solve, assist or direct us to that higher plain we all envision in our hearts.

I guarantee you, there are people who live and work in Buffalo Grove (the silent majority), who without getting brow beaten; shot down or who could stay anonymous - who would have some solid input into the path we need to be on.

Harness that power and we can again be that powerful entity that others emulated! The alternative is to watch your step, being in the grove where buffalos reside!
