6-9 junior forward Egwu says he wants to join Illini

Illinois men's basketball coach Bruce Weber received an oral commitment Friday afternoon from St. Ignatius junior center Nnanna Egwu. The 6-foot-9 Egwu, a native of Nigeria, ranks as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and a three-star by Scout.com. According to those recruiting services, Egwu also received offers from Purdue, Northwestern, DePaul, Wisconsin and Oregon State. He joins point guard Tracy Abrams, a four-star recruit from Mount Carmel High School, in Illinois' 2011 recruiting class. They cannot formalize their decisions until November 2010.
