Terrorism reason not to pick Chicago

Why didn't Chicago win the 2016 Olympics? Let me count the reasons for you.

Sept. 13, 2004: Congress refused to extend President Clinton's ban on 19 assault weapons. The list of banned weapons included AK47's. Ironically it was Illinois' own, Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, who sat on the bill and chose not to bring it up for a vote.

Sept. 26, 2008: Terrorists attacked 10 locations in Mumbai, India, killing over 100. The terrorist's weapon of choice was AK47's.

Oct. 31, 2008: There was a vote at the United Nations to establish a treaty to halt the flow of small arms, mainly AK47's, the weapon used by al-Qaida, the Taliban, Somali pirates and Mexican drug cartels, and 147 countries voted in favor of the treaty. Only two countries voted no, Zimbabwe and The United States.

Finally, let's add up some numbers. The Fort Dix six, Lackawanna six, North Carolina seven. All of these were homegrown terrorist groups, either real or wannabes, who were training in the use of AK47's before the FBI caught them.

The capture of these three groups should leave no doubt that al-Qaida is planning a Mumbai style attack in America, especially since we are unloading container loads of AK47's at our ports.

It should come as no surprise that the Olympic committee, when considering the criteria of security, would decide not to take a chance and choose Chicago.
