Liberals can't tell everyone what to do
Evidently Laura Fox has been drinking the liberal Kool-Aid. But her "trouble sensor" is way off. According to liberals, no one should criticize their proposed policies, even though they hammered the Bush administration for eight years over every issue, large and small, and manufactured several as well. Anyone who dares attend a town-hall meeting and speak up and against the current health care overhaul proposal is labeled extremist, "ignorant" (Ms. Fox's label), racist, or even Nazi-like.
In reality, hundreds and thousands of concerned American citizens packed those meetings to express their views to their elected officials who ostensibly were there to listen. These people were not paid to attend, nor were they bussed in.
And to say that "typically the Democrats are more polite and stick more to the truth" is so comical that it probably needs no response. Anyone remember the confirmation hearings for Bork or Thomas?
Obama campaigned on the premise that his approach would be different, but it has been politics of the worse kind, as usual. He made lots of promises. He continues to campaign instead of govern. And he won't stand up to the extreme voices and power brokers in his party.
What makes this even worse is the compliance of the mainstream media. Where was the outrage over his "they acted stupidly" comment, Carter's "racism" accusations, and the recent slanderous rhetoric by Democratic legislators?
Yes, we desperately need health care reform. Social Security and Medicare are going bankrupt and must be fixed, insurance companies should compete nationally, and tort reform is a necessity - and more. But we don't need liberal demagogues telling us it's their way or the highway.
So, Ms. Fox, when you say, "Come on, America, smarten up," I say, "We have!" And to answer your comment of "Those who know better should speak up," I am.
