Second Lake County man reported missing
Lake County authorities are asking for public help in finding a Mundelein-area man who left work Thursday morning and never returned.
Twenty-year-old Brandon J. Kirchner-Wenfurter was reported missing by family members about 12:10 a.m. Friday.
Kirchner-Wenfurter attended a morning meeting at Libertyville Acura, but did not return to finish the session in the afternoon as scheduled. He was last seen walking through the service department.
"No news. No change," said Glenn Bockwinkel, Kirchner-Wenfurter's grandfather, who owns the dealership. "It's just out of the ordinary."
Bockwinkel said his grandson's cell phone has been turned off and there has been no credit card or I-Pass activity.
Kirchner-Wenfurter had been living with Bockwinkel the past two years and had a set routine. He had one more week before graduating from the National Auto Dealers Association academy in McLean, Va. He was doing well and excited about the program, according to Bockwinkel.
He is 5-feet, 9-inches, 135 pounds, wears glasses and has brown eyes and hair. He was last seen driving a 2002 black Acura MDX with Illinois registration X308 403.
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Bob Dever, (847) 377-4147.
Kirchner-Wenfurter is the second Lake County man reported missing in recent days.
Police also are seeking information on Robert D. Nelson, 47, of 28589 North Drive, in unincorporated Barrington. Nelson, who was described as despondent over family matters, was reported missing about 8 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, Nelson left home without any personal belongings. Authorities dragged the Fox River and used bloodhounds in the wooded area without success.
"There's some serious concern for him. We stepped it up a little bit," Lake County Sheriff's Police Sgt. Christopher Thompson said Friday evening. "We're covering all the ground we can."
