Cemetery walk:

Round Lake area history comes alive Sunday during the second annual cemetery walk. The tour begins at 1 p.m. at the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center behind the Walmart off Hook Drive near Route 83. Participants will take a bus to the east Fox Lake Cemetery where many settlers are buried. Costumed characters will greet visitors ready to tell their stories. An RSVP to mmarr@rlbeach.org or at (847) 201-9032 is requested. Include a last name, number attending and an e-mail address. Treats and other historic material will be available afterward at the Civic Center.

Lindenhurst Haunted Trail and Bonfire:

Walk along a winding, wooden path at the Haunted Trail and bonfire on Saturday, Oct. 17. The trail is at Forest View Park, 513 Forest View Drive, Lindenhurst, and is open from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The bonfire starts at dusk. Sponsored by the Lindenhurst Park District, the day includes a costume contest, magic show, juggling act and more. For details visit lindenhurstparks.org or call (847) 356-6011.

Using maps to research family history:

An ability to read and make use of a wide variety of maps is useful toward putting together a history of one's family. The Lake Villa District Library will host a presentation by Craig Pfannkuche on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. Pfannkuche will demonstrate how many maps can be used to help the researcher understand the movement and history of one's ancestors. Percussion guitarist performs in Antioch:
