Skinny Carmel, which sits in a three-way tie for second place in the ESCC with Marist and Joliet Catholic - a game back of Marian Catholic - will be playoff-eligible with an expected win tonight. St. Joseph resides alone in last place, having dropped five in a row since opening with a win over Ridgewood. ... Carmel has played four games decided by 4 or fewer points. The Corsairs edged Marist (36-32) and Notre Dame (20-17 in double OT) and lost heartbreakers to Joliet Catholic (19-16) and Marian Catholic (20-17 in OT). They've played overtime the last two weeks. ... Carmel sophomore fullback Jordan Kos is up to 671 rushing yards (6.6 per carry) and has scored a team-best 7 touchdowns. The defense's top tacklers are Nick Keller (56 tackles), Matt Tripicchio (44), Luke Venegoni (43) and Mike Fitzgibbons (40). Mike Cohen, a 6-3, 208-pound junior linebacker, has 5 sacks and 8 tackles for loss, both of which lead the team. Fitzgibbons and Dirk Wagner had interceptions against Notre Dame last Friday.
