Scouting Dixon @ Grayslake North
Dixon (2-4) at Grayslake North (2-4)
When 7:30 p.m. today
Last week Dixon lost to Geneseo, 26-0; Grayslake North lost to Prairie Ridge, 35-6.
Skinny Grayslake North had to look a long way from home for this year's homecoming opponent. Dixon, more than 100 miles and 2 hours from Grayslake, is located southwest of DeKalb along Interstate 88. With the addition of Woodstock North to the Fox Valley Conference mix, scheduling in the league was a bit of a challenge this season and Dixon represents Grayslake North's only nonconference game-Both Dixon and Grayslake North are coming off tough games. The Dukes, who play in the NCIC (Reagan), have lost their last three games and were handled by Geneseo last week. Dixon gained only 4 first downs and 103 rushing yards on the game. The Dukes were behind the eight ball early, falling behind 14-0 with just nine minutes gone in the game. "We didn't fire out on offense, we didn't fire out on defense," Dixon coach Tony Agrimonti told saukvalley.com after the game-One bright spot for Dixon last week was the play of Sam Smith, who recorded a team-high 12 tackles, including 2 for a loss. Plus, Smith had a fumble recovery-Offensively, Dixon was led by Luke Heniff, who rushed for 60 yards-Grayslake North continues to struggle offensively. Last week against Prairie Ridge, the Knights didn't give themselves many chances. Six of their 11 possessions resulted in a three-and-out and two other possessions were halted by interceptions. Grayslake North didn't score until there were only 21 seconds left in the game. Sean Brennan threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Matt Robinson.
