Scouting Buffalo Grove @ Hersey

MID-SUBURBAN EAST

Buffalo Grove (4-2, 2-0) at Hersey (0-6, 0-2)

When 7:30 p.m. today at Roland Goins Stadium

Last week BG d. Wheeling 28-0; Hersey lost to Prospect 40-0

Outlook The neighborhood battle has BG looking for its fourth straight win to meet its primary preseason goal of becoming playoff eligible for the first time since 2003. "We know they're going to play us really tough because of the cross-town rivalry," said BG coach Jim Farrell. "We know they bring a lot of pressure and we have to be able to withstand the pressure because of a lot of different blitz packages they run out of the 3-5-3." But this is the second straight week the Bison are seeing a 3-5-3 and the offensive line, bolstered by Greg Sanders stepping in at C when Austin Simon got sick in Week 4, has been getting the job done for Kevin Mulligan, John Angotti, Mike Cornely and QB Mike Garrity. "What's probably overlooked is their offensive line play, which has drastically improved from last year," said Hersey coach Mark Gunther. "It really highlights their skill play." The battered Huskies were missing six offensive starters last week but expected to have RB Chris Polinski, WR-DB Tony O'Donnell and OL Kevin Thomson back after sitting because of concussions. BG has won 16 of 19 meetings in a series it leads 24-11.
