Zion man charged with sexual assault on a child

A 33-year-old Zion man is behind bars after being charged with criminal sexual assault for contact he made with an 8-year-old child in Winthrop Harbor, police said.

Cameron B. Flint, of the 3000 block of Elisha Avenue, was charged with a class X felony on Wednesday and is currently being held in Lake County jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

Winthrop Harbor police officials said in a news release they have been running a joint investigation with the Department of Children Family Services into Flint after the child reported the sexual assault to school officials last month.

DCFS and police officials interviewed the victim in Wisconsin, during which she gave details of the assault, the news release stated.

Following the interview, Lake County State's Attorneys officials approved the charges against Flint and he was arrested at his home without incident Wednesday.

Officials also searched Flint's personal computer, where video files consistent with child pornography were discovered.

The investigation continues and additional charges are expected, officials said.
