'Ugly Betty' set for 2-hour premiere Friday

"Ugly Betty" returns for its fourth season on a new night with a two-hour premiere at 7 p.m. Friday on ABC's WLS Channel 7. America Ferrera's lovable loser of a fashionista faces less competition on Fridays, but that's a double-edged sword that can also put it on the path to cancellation.

PBS questions Obama!

PBS' "Frontline" investigative series persists in telling the truth to power -- even with a new Democratic administration in the White House -- when it returns with its season premiere "Obama's War" at 9 p.m. Tuesday on WTTW Channel 11. It looks at U.S. military activity in Afghanistan as things heat up there and wind down in Iraq.

Where Sendak is

HBO jumps on the publicity bandwagon following the new feature film "Where the Wild Things Are" with "Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak," a documentary on the well-known, much-beloved, yet nonetheless prickly children's author, debuting at 6 p.m. Wednesday on the premium-cable channel.

Press 'Reload'

Yes, "The Matrix Reloaded" is a silly sequel. Crosscutting between the tribal dance and Neo and Trinity's lovemaking session sets new records for action-film pretentiousness. Yet it's also got some spectacular sequences, such as the taking of the "keymaker" and the ensuing freeway chase. It's at 6 p.m. Friday on MTV.
