The Bible tells us to share our wealth

I am writing in response to a Fence Post letter that appeared on Sept. 13. The God I know and love from the Bible wants us to help those less fortunate. There are many unemployed and underemployed that are without health care during these current rough times through no fault of their own.

My Bible says "If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him" 1 John 3:17. Also Hebrews 13:16 says "Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."

There are many, many verses throughout scripture telling us to be there for others in their difficult times.

Mr. Seblante should start reading his Bible more in his spare time instead of judging those who are without health care and saying the Bible doesn't think they should get help. I give thanks daily that I am insured and we are fortunate enough not to have lost our jobs and been put in that position.
