Someone didn't do job on traffic
I've only lived out here for a little more than 20 years. In that time, I've continued to hear how Algonquin's leaders have continued to fight any type of traffic solution that would get anywhere close to the intersection of Routes 62 and 31. The don't want to ruin the charm of downtown Algonquin.
Their solution has always been for other communities to solve their problems. The solution they've promoted the most is to have another bridge erected somewhere south of the town. Folks can drive down Randall Road to get to this new bridge and the solution is solved.
So what have we gotten from Algonquin over the last few years? Algonquin Commons, which was a great addition to the community. Then Algonquin and their traffic planning stepped in. Let's put a traffic light every block. Then we'll add a few more traffic lights off Randall Road to the equation. Then we'll make certain that all of the lights are on demand lights so that the traffic comes to a complete stop.
Well, I don't know about others, but I now try to avoid that stretch of Randall Road whenever possible. Which also means that I will not shop at those stores along that route. This has nothing to do with the wonderful businesses in the area, I'm just not willing to deal with the traffic mess.
The traffic genius who designed the lights near Randall Road and I-90 should be taken out and flogged.
At what point are these communities at least going to make the feeble attempt to solve their traffic problems?
Then the communities wonder why they have so many accidents. Time the traffic lights and I bet you'll find drivers matching their speed to the timing of the lights.
