Arlington Heights gas station robbed Tuesday night

Arlington Heights Police are searching for a person who held up a Marathon Gas Station late Tuesday night.

Investigator Doug Hajek of the Arlington Heights Police Department said the unknown male entered the Marathon at 3 N. Wilke Road at about 9:44 p.m. Tuesday night and demanded money from the teller.

The offender then pointed a silver-colored handgun at the clerk, Hajek said. Police are unsure if it was a revolver or a semi-automatic.

The clerk handed over roughly $200 to the robber, who then fled the building on foot in an unknown direction.

Police set up a perimeter around the station and deployed a canine unit to try to track the offender with no luck, Hajek said.

The offender is described as either a white or Hispanic male in his mid-20s, and standing roughly 5-feet, 5-inches tall with a thin to medium build. He was seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and had a white handkerchief covering his mouth.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the Arlington Heights Police Department at (847) 368-5343.
