Bean isn't making sense on health care
I am a resident and business owner (physician) in Melissa Bean's district. I have contacted her office both through the Internet and personally on the phone three times to find out when she will be meeting with constituents to discuss the health care bill. I was assured I would be contacted when she decided what she would be doing.
Now I read that "Bean holds automatically dialed conference calls with residents who have signed up expressing interest in the issue". I have yet to be contacted. She states that there are 46 million uninsured; a number that includes illegal aliens yet also asserts that no undocumented aliens can participate. Which is it?
She asserts "we're finding $500 million in waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicare." Who actually believes this? Seriously, does anyone out there actually think the government is capable of this?
And if there is that much fraud, etc. in the current government run health care system, why would we ever trust the government to expand its role and run a universal public (government) option?
If it's that easy, why not root out that fraud now and save the taxpayers' money? The bottom line is Melissa Bean appears to have no idea what she supports and is trying to play it safe with focus-group tested talking points that masquerade as a reasoned, well thought out opinion. She has avoided meeting with constituents because she can't defend or even explain her positions. We need someone who truly represents us in Washington.
